Bhowanipur 75 Palli Marks the Beginning of Its 61st Year of Durga Puja Celebrations with Khuti Puja and Theme Launch ‘Binodini’

Kolkata, 27th July 2025: Bhowanipur 75 Palli, one of Kolkata’s most iconic and culturally vibrant puja committees, commenced its 61st year of Durga Puja celebrations with the auspicious Khuti Puja at its premises on 1/1C, Debendra Ghosh Road, near Netaji Bhavan Metro Station. Following the rituals, the committee unveiled this year’s much-anticipated theme – “Binodini” – a tribute to Nati Binodini, a pioneering figure in Bengali theatre who symbolizes courage, dignity, and creative brilliance.

The occasion was glittered by the presence of various eminent personalities like: Sri. Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister of Agriculture, Govt of WB; Sri. Kartik Banerjee, Social Activist; Smt. Papiya Singh, Councillor; Sri. Sandip Ranjan Bakshi, Councillor; Sri. Ashim Basu, Councillor; Smt. Kajari Banerjee, Councillor; Smt. Debalina Biswas, Councilor; Sri. Sayan Deb Chatterjee, State Secretary of West Bengal Trinamool Youth Congress & many other eminent personalities.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Subir Das, Club Secretary said, “At Bhowanipur 75 Palli, the Khuti Puja marks not just the spiritual beginning of our Durga Puja celebrations, but also the emotional start of our journey each year. We believe that Durga Puja is not just a celebration – it’s a platform to honour our heritage and raise awareness through meaningful storytelling. This year, with ‘Binodini’ as our theme, we pay homage to a forgotten icon of Bengali theatre whose life continues to inspire. Through art, culture, and community engagement, we strive to spark conversations that matter – about dignity, equality and remembrance.”

Beyond its cultural significance, Bhowanipur 75 Palli continues to uphold its social responsibilities through various charitable initiatives supported by donations collected during Durga Puja. These initiatives include healthcare services, educational support, and aid for underprivileged families throughout the year.
