CINI Marks a Milestone: 25 Years of Adolescent Empowerment and Advocacy
Kolkata, November 2025: Child in Need Institute (CINI), a registered non-governmental organization with a national presence, celebrated 50 years of dedicated service to children, mothers and marginalized communities in 2024. The organisation is now preparing to celebrate 25 years of one of its most impactful flagship initiatives, the Adolescent Resource Centre (ARC) which has been instrumental in advancing adolescent empowerment, health, and advocacy across India.
Launched in 2000, ARC stands as a cornerstone of CINI’s work, focusing on adolescent health, rights, leadership and overall well-being. Over the past 25 years, ARC has played a significant role in promoting
i. Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
ii. Non-Communicable diseases
iii. Education & mental health support
iv. Leadership development
v. Substance misuse prevention
vi. Gender-based violence awareness
vii. Nutrition Advancement
vii. Community Engagement and Youth Advocacy
Over time, ARC has broadened its scope to include youth and young adults, ensuring holistic development and essential life skill enhancement.

Founded in 1974 by Dr. Samir Chaudhuri, CINI has continuously worked to uplift vulnerable populations. The organization has received two National Awards for Child Welfare and currently operates across West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, and Jharkhand, positively impacting over 10 million people.
As a key pillar of CINI, ARC collaborates with donors, government bodies, NGOs and CBOs. It serves as a national partner for the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) and the School Health and Wellness Programme. ARC also supports policy advocacy, develops impactful IEC materials, conducts research, and nurtures youth-led platforms to amplify adolescent voices.
