VIT Alumni Association: Leading Education Institution Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) hosted the Kolkata Chapter alumni meet at Kolkata. The University welcomed back its illustrious alumni on February 16, 2025, for an Alumni Meet held at Eastern Metropolitan Club, Santoshpur, Kolkata. The event drew an impressive turnout of over 100 alumni spanning various batches.
Hon. Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan chaired the meeting that was attended by several top bureaucrats and leading industrialists. In his Presidential address, Dr. Viswanathan said it is always a joy to visit the city of joy.
He recalled some of his fond memories with the state and some of its tallest leaders that include Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Mr. Siddhartha Shankar Ray, Mr. Indrajit Gupta, Mr. Hiren Mukherjee, Mr. Jyoti Basu

He also chalked out the similarities between Tamil Nadu & West Bengal by pointing out the similarity towards their affinity towards the mother tongue and education.
He urged the alumni to take care of the families, society and the country. He added that the Union Government’s ambitious Bharath can become a reality only when higher education reaches the masses.
